Interest Group Topics

Here is the 2024 Interest Group. Take a look at the descriptions and decide what you think would be the best fit for you. Come back Sunday, May 12th at 6 pm to register for your groups.

How it works: Senior High campers will have a Bible Centered (discussion) interest group at lunch time and an active interest group at dinner time. Look through the list and start ranking your top 5 Bible Centered and Active Interest Groups!

You must be registered for camp to register for interest groups! Junior High campers do not need to register for interest groups. There are set groups that you will rotate through.

Bible Centered (Lunch time) Interest Groups

Action of Athletes

Lunch

Who you are on the field or court can define who you are off the field. Let's talk about how we can play hard and honor our faith.

Choir

Lunch

This group learns new songs, black spirituals, and lakeside classics. Take part in the walking choir and sing for your camp peers during praise and worship.

Even though we know choir is active, we know that you are also getting plenty of The Word when you are with Pastor Todd. Campers who choose Choir for the lunch interest group will also choose an active group for dinner.

Get Used To Different

Lunch

Discover who Jesus says you are and understand what it means to follow him. Learn how to surrender in good and bad times. None of us have this life totally figured out, but Jesus does!

God Cares about your mental health

Lunch

The mental health of youth is described as a "crisis". In fact, the Gov. of California declared May 1-7,2024 as "Children's Mental Health Awareness Week." We are not tiptoeing around the topic of mental health, we're going straight to the point. God cares about the mental health of his creation, and we should, too. In this group, we will focus on mental health topics AND look at God's word for support, encouragement and understanding. Yes, He knows we are hurting and He wants to offer relief!

PRayer walk

Lunch

What is a prayer walk? Come find the answer and help create a Lakeside prayer walk.

Unoffendable

Lunch

It’s a provocative idea: We are not entitled to get offended or stay angry at other people. The Bible calls every follower of Christ to do something radical and countercultural: Let go of our anger and forgive.

As it turns out, giving up our right to be offended is one of the most freeing, healthy, relaxing, refreshing, stress-relieving, and encouraging things we can do. It allows us to recognize that people are broken and stop being scandalized by their actions. It enables us to accept people and stop judging them. It creates a way for us to not just love others but to actually like them.

True Crime Stories of the Bible

Lunch

Even though it sounds like the name of a possible favorite podcast, it’s all included in the true crimes found in the pages of the Bible.

But unlike your favorite true crime show, these dark deeds not only reveal the devastating consequences of sin but also the unrelenting power of God’s grace.
